Installing the Plugin

Installing from WordPress.org (Free Version)

  1. In the WordPress admin, navigate to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for WP Custom Login in the search bar.
  3. Locate the plugin by Teydea Studio and click Install Now.
  4. After installation completes, click Activate.
The plugin is now active and ready to configure.

Installing the PRO Version (PRO)

The PRO version is distributed directly through Teydea Studio, not through WordPress.org.

  1. Download the PRO plugin ZIP file from your Teydea Studio Customer Portal account.
  2. In the WordPress admin, navigate to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  3. Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
  4. Click Choose File, select the downloaded ZIP file, then click Install Now.
  5. After installation completes, click Activate.
Upload and install the plugin

If you previously had the free version installed, the PRO version replaces it automatically. When the PRO plugin activates, it defines a constant that prevents the free version from loading. You do not need to deactivate the free version first, but keeping only the PRO version active is recommended to avoid confusion.

Verifying the Installation

After activation, navigate to Settings → Custom Login in the left sidebar. You should see the WP Custom Login settings page with a Design tab selected by default and a live preview of your login page on the right side. If the PRO version is active, the settings page heading should read WP Custom Login PRO.

Multisite Installation

WP Custom Login supports WordPress multisite networks. You can activate the plugin network-wide or on individual sites within the network. When activated on a site, the login page customization applies to that site’s login screen.

Network-Wide Activation

When the plugin is activated network-wide, you can configure settings from the Network Admin dashboard under Settings → Custom Login. However, the WordPress Media Library is not available in the Network Admin context. This means image-related features — such as uploading a custom logo, setting a background image, or applying templates that include images — cannot be used from the Network Admin settings page. To use these features, deactivate the plugin network-wide and activate it on individual sites instead.

The free version gives you full control over the login page’s visual design — custom logo, background color and image, form container styling, label and input field customization, primary and secondary button design, checkbox styling, notice and error message colors, under-form link styling, social media icons, custom footer, privacy policy link, language switcher controls, per-language text, and a custom CSS editor. You also get functionality options like disabling autofocus, the error shake animation, and browser autocomplete. Everything is configured from a visual settings page with a live preview.

The PRO version adds 20+ pre-designed templates you can apply in one click, advanced background options (multi-column split-screen layouts, image and video sliders, animated gradients, CSS image filters and color overlays), post-login redirect rules with per-role and per-user targeting, the ability to replace wp-login.php with a custom login URL, and priority support with automatic updates.
