Customizing Notices

Overview

The Notices panel controls the appearance of messages that appear on the login page. WordPress displays three types of notices: errors (e.g., invalid credentials), informational notices (e.g., password reset instructions), and success messages (e.g., password changed confirmation).

Accessing Notice Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings → Custom Login.
  2. Open the Notices panel in the Design tab.

Styling Each Notice Type

Each notice type has its own color settings:

Error Messages

  • Background color — The background of error notices (default: white).
  • Text color — The text color of error messages.
  • Border — Configure each side’s width, style, and color. By default, errors have a red left border (4px solid #d63638).
  • Shadow — Set a box shadow for error notices.

Informational Notices

  • Background color — The background of informational notices.
  • Text color — The text color of notices.
  • Border — By default, notices have a blue left border (4px solid #72aee6).
  • Shadow — Set a box shadow for notices.

Success Messages

  • Background color — The background of success messages.
  • Text color — The text color of success messages.
  • Border — By default, success messages have a green left border (4px solid #00a32a).
  • Shadow — Set a box shadow for success messages.

Typography

All notice types share the same typography settings:

  • Font family, font size, font weight, and line height apply to the text inside all three notice types.

Spacing

  • Padding — Inner spacing within each notice box (default: 12px on all sides).
  • Margin — Outer spacing around notice boxes.
  • Border radius — Round the corners of notice boxes.

Custom Notice Text

You can customize the text of certain built-in notices. These support per-language customization:

  • Password reset notice — The instruction text shown on the “Lost your password?” screen.
  • Register notice — The text shown on the registration screen.

Adding a Custom Notice

  1. Toggle Show custom notice to enable a persistent custom notice on the login page.
  2. Select the Custom notice type: notice (blue), error (red), or success (green).
  3. Enter the custom notice text. This field supports per-language text.
  4. Click Save all settings.
The custom notice appears on the login page alongside any standard WordPress notices.
